The Coast
Take a stroll along a sandy beach
or a cliff top walk above the crashing waves. The coastline
of Dumfries & Galloway is one of the most varied in Scotland,
with dramatic craggy outcrops and long sandy beaches, a whole
range and variety of walks will take you through along some
of the most beautiful parts.
With popular, easily accessible walks such as the Jubilee Path
to the more challenging cliffs on the Rhins of Galloway, you
can enjoy some of the most unique views in the UK from our long
coastline.
If the Lake District has become a habit, you can see it from
the other side of the water, and make out the distinctive peaks
of Skafell Pike and Helvellan from the Colvend Coast. For a
truly unique viewpoint walk to Scotland's most southerly
point at the Mull of Galloway. It is said from this RSPB reserve
that you can see the seven kingdoms of Great Britain on a clear
day, Scotland, England, Ireland, Wales, the Isle of Man, the
kingdom of the sea and the kingdom of heaven. If however it's
not such a clear day, wait awhile at Scotland's Land's
End and you may well experience the four seasons of the year
in a couple of hours, for where the Solway meets the sea weather
can change in the blink of an eye! |
