Insider tips Mabie Forest, Near Dumfries Carol Jardine,, Dumfries , Scotland I will highly recommend Mabie Forest as a great day out for a family with energetic children. The walks are ideal for families of all ages, as it encourages kids imagination for adventures and the picnic lunch is idea as after eating a home made lunch which costs very little the kids can still run wild in a safe fenced off area as the adults take time to relax or catch their breath back.
