Explore the paradise of stunning flowers and uncover the focal point of the garden, a large fishpond ornamented with water lilies. As you stroll through the gardens, keep an eye out for African daisies and Himalayayn poppies and admire the magnificent eucalyptus groves.
After investigating the dazzling sights and scents of the exotic walled garden, walk to the highest point to see breathtaking Scottish scenery as you look out across the Rhinns to the Galloway Hills.
Scotland’s landscape has inspired artists and writers for hundreds of years and you can visit the area that influenced Robert Burns in Dumfries & Galloway - Craigieburn Garden. Nestled in the Moffat Hills, the fascinating garden is overflowing with an extraordinary array of plants which flourish in the region’s warm atmosphere which is reminiscent of Nepal.
As you investigate the 5 acres you will find an eclectic mixture of classic borders and beech trees interspersed with giant martagon lilies and eye-catching blue poppies.
Finally, find yourself amid a Japanese haven when you visit Broughton House Garden in Kirkcudbright. After a trip to Japan at the end of the 19th century, Scottish artist Edward Hornel was inspired to develop part of the garden in this style.
Broughton House Garden is a captivating combination of formal and more relaxed areas, where brightly coloured herbaceous plants, shrubs and low-clipped box hedges thrive. Many of the artist’s chosen plants still exist today - a striking magnolia, gnarled wisteria and a magnificent hydrangea.
