See the sights, hear the sounds and smell the heady scents as you take a distillery tour or sip a pint of Dumfries & Galloway’s delicious cider.

Visit Scotland’s most southerly distillery, nestled on the banks of the River Bladnoch, to sample a distinctive whisky. Since 1817, Bladnoch Distillery has been producing the lowland spirit and today you can still see the sights, hear the sounds, and smell the heady scents as you take a tour of the distillery.

A knowledgeable expert will take you on a journey through the process of whisky-making from grain to cask. Large copper stills are visible in the Still House and you can experience the noise and steam of the Mash House. Round things off in the Dramming Room to appreciate the taste of a fine single malt whisky.

Daily tours are also available at Sulwath Brewers where you can learn the art of making traditionally crafted ales using natural ingredients. From refreshing lagers to rich ales, the flavours on offer are truly distinctive, with both seasonal and speciality options to choose from. Tastings are available at the end of your visit so that you can sample wholesome and complex Scottish beers.

Whisky and ales are not the only famed drinks produced within this region. Waulkmill Cider is set within beautiful landscapes, the only traditional brewer of Scottish cider in the country. All of the apples used to make this delicious drink are grown with care in Dumfries & Galloway’s orchards so that you can enjoy the varied tastes and textures of the cider. Picked, grown and fermented in the region, this is a truly Scottish drink. Purchase these fine flavours at local events and farmers’ markets, or for something a little milder, try the apple juice also produced at Waulkmill.
