Dumfries & Galloway has a proud history full of artists and creators, which you can learn more about at some of the arts and crafts events held throughout the year.

With a reputation for creativity and excellent design, it’s no wonder Dumfries & Galloway has a number of arts and crafts events held throughout the year.

In May, the Dumfries & Galloway Arts Festival sees a number of activities happening in venues across the region - enjoy classical, jazz or folk music, dance, theatre and children’s events.

At the end of May, the Spring Fling allows you a deep insight into the life and work of the region’s artists. Around 80 arts and craft studios open their doors to the public and special events, workshops and tours take place from studio to studio. Speak to the artists themselves and find out what inspires them about Dumfries & Galloway.

At the end of July every year, the innovative and family-friendly weekend event, the Wickerman Festival takes place. Partly themed around the famous cult movie, the festival features a variety of music from current and new talent on a farm near Kirkcudbright with camping available for three days of glorious entertainment.

For books and literature events, visit in September and October for the Wigtown Book Festival when 100 activities take place to celebrate the written word.

A mix of mainstream and contemporary jazz and blues concerts take place in October at the Lockerbie Jazz Festival. Enjoy a variety of styles from international, Scottish and Dumfries & Galloway musicians.
