Larch View mountain bike trail at Ae Forest

Take on the Omega Man and Coffin Jump at The Forest of Ae - a mountain biking centre with some of the fastest downhills and most dramatic jumps anywhere.

The Forest of Ae is named after one of the youngest villages in Britain, located just north of Dumfries. It has been a popular downhill mountain biking venue for many years.

There is a huge emphasis on fun at Ae, with numerous jumps and drop offs, none of which are as dramatic or as thrilling as the final section of single-track descent known as the Omega Man. This is a long, spectacular trail that drops back to the car park via numerous bermed corners, tabletops, jumps, double jumps and some serious drop-offs that might not be best approached at top speed.

Take the black option if you want some serious action. As if that’s not enough, there's the option of a very long and narrow log ride at the end.

There are some serious up-and-downs at Ae as you drop into and climb out of a series of river valleys, using a mixture of single-track and forest roads. Ae is also a well-established downhill centre, with a competition course featuring the infamous 22 ft Coffin Jump.

If you want to develop your skills, there is a downhill skills/freeride route called The Shredder.

Ae is a complete mountain bike trails centre, boasting a bike shop - where you can hire bikes for the day - and a cafe for a well-deserved cup of tea at the end of your ride.
