The original mountain biking venue in the south west of Scotland, at 7stanes Mabie you will discover an authentic mountain biking experience. Located in the beautiful Mabie Forest, 7stanes Mabie has everything you could need for the perfect day’s riding.
Green – Big Views Loop, 8.2 km
Blue – Woodhead Loop, 10 km
Red – The Phoenix Trail, 19.2 km
Orange - Dark Side, 2 km
Purple - Lochbank Loop, 12.5 km
Though close to Dalbeattie and Ae, Mabie sits between the two and offers something different. While Dalbeattie is all hard granite trails and open, sweeping vistas, and Ae resembles a fun park, with its manmade trails, jumps and bumps, Mabie offers something akin to a more natural mountain biking experience.
Here you will find softer trails, with roots a more common obstacle than rocks. However, fear not, these trails have been constructed with mountain bikers in mind, and there is some great single-track – downhill and uphill.
Recent work has refreshed several sections of the red-graded Phoenix Trail. There has also been a new makeover for Vadars Lair, the introduction to The Dark Side Trail. Mabie also boasts some fantastic blue and green trails, which provide a great introduction to single-track riding.
The onsite Grierson & Graham cycle centre can arrange bike hire, retail sales and repair and there is also a café offering refreshments and a wood-burning stove, ideal for drying off after a wet day of biking.
From Dumfries, follow the A710 for around 4 miles. The turn off for the car park is on the right, heading south on this road.
